Holly House
Paul Ashton Architects were commissioned by a private client to design a low-energy retirement dwelling. The site is in a rural location and has been in the clients ownership for many years. Over this time the client have planted and grown a small private wood. The building is shielded with a copse of ash trees on 3 sides and the living spaces enjoy views across the West Lancashire coastal plain.
Green Belt
The dwelling represents an increase of 50% over the original structure. The plan has been designed to maximise the connection to the immediate views of the woods and the wider countryside beyond.
Low Energy Dwelling
The building sits within a wildflower meadow. The meadow allows for the installation of ground source heat pumps.
